Using Space Wisely: Turn Your Closet into an Office

March 23, 2010 by

Could you work in a closet?

Apparently many people do, including the guy in the photo above (from Unclutterer), who not only uses his closet as a workspace–he stores clothes in there, too! The lady below has it all under control. She’s totally chillaxing in her office-closet.

If you think about it, having a closet workspace isn’t so different from cubicle life, and it has the added perk of avoiding annoying coworkers. Plus, imagine the possibilities for your next home… If you work from home and think you need a separate bedroom for an office, suddenly you can look for a smaller, cheaper place! I imagine this is more of a city-dweller phenomenon, but I don’t see why it couldn’t work in the ‘burbs too. I’m honestly intrigued by this concept and hope that my next home has a workspace-worthy closet. I think it’s pretty neat.

For more inspiration, CNN has a slideshow of closet workspaces (I know, this is hard-hitting news!).

I’d love to do this in my room, but having a full-size bed and a toddler bed in a 10×10 room really doesn’t leave much space to put a dresser anywhere OTHER than the closet. :
